"A lifelong jazz fan since hearing Oscar Peterson's We Get Requests in my early teens, I came to love Chet Baker and the sound of West Coast Jazz, as well as some of the great vocalists like Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald.
"These days it's Bebop that's sets my heart racing and I'm continuing to enjoy discovering the back catalogues of the Blue Note and Verve records labels.
"I've ended up playing a lot more new jazz than I first expected on the programme, and its been lovely to discover young musicians continuing to draw their inspiration from the jazz greats while bringing their own distinctive twist. I find experimental and free jazz quite challenging so you won't hear much of that on the show.
"Best album of 2024? For me, it has to be Behn Gillece's Stick Together. Check it out."
